Old Business

a. Easter Egg Hunt – Marian Wilcox and Marlynne Olson reiterated this is transitioning into a Chapter Project with support from Puget Sound LMC, Seattle Council and Tacoma CC. Green River has the rent ($450), candy donations from Walgreen’s thanks to Kathleen Steele and $85 for the rest of the needs. The basic need this year is for volunteers to help with set-up, clean-up and to help at the event. A variety of jobs are available. The date of the event is Saturday, March 23 from 10 to noon at the Tukwila Community Center. Set-up begins at 9AM. Contact Marian Wilcox for more information or to volunteer.

b. Pocket Flag Project – Marian Wilcox is ordering 300 flags for $85.00 for this Chapter Project. MSC Marian Wilcox/Susan Anstead. Project will begin at the Face-to-Face at Ocean Shores.

c. Chapter Directory – Marian Wilcox sent out the 2013 directory and asked for review and to send any corrections to Marian.

New Business

Ocean Shores – Linda Copeland. Rooms have been reserved under “Pioneers” at the Quality Inn. Pricing is $72/night for a non-view room and $111/night for view rooms. Reservation deadline is 24 February. Make your reservations by calling the hotel direct.

Face to Face meeting is from 10:30AM to 2PM on Saturday, March 2. Please bring a brown bag lunch. Crab Feed reservations being taken by Pete Fox, call 360.943.2216. Prices: $20 for crab and $8 for spaghetti. Social Hour from 3 to 5pm; dinner at 5pm. Donations of gift baskets for the drawing gratefully accepted

Regional Call
Jennifer Moore sent out an email with minutes from the Region meeting. Lengthy discussion took place about the $7.50 transaction fees and the move of funds from Sound Credit Union to Wells Fargo. Jennifer received questions about FDIC coverage; deposits if no nearby branches; existence of CDs and transfers between chapters and clubs/councils. If you and your club/council have other questions, refer them to Jennifer. Thanks to CenturyLink, budgeting for these charges will begin in 2014. Since this is a new process, CenturyLink is picking up the fees for 2013 as these are unbudgeted items for us.

Round Table

Capitol Combined Club-business as usual, collecting can tabs, selling Entertainment books, and donated cloth grocery bags of clothing to the Department of Veterans Affairs and adopted a family for Christmas through the Lakewood VFW.

Cascadian LMC - Paul Klein will be installing our officers at our January 9th lunch, Readers for Life book sort happened on January 2nd, our new Participation Lead has turned in our hours for August to December, our Holiday food donation was made to the Hope-Link food bank and we are working on gift baskets for Crab Feed.

Cowlitz Combined Club- annual crab feed will be held on February 2nd, business meeting is January 15th and they continue collecting stamps and can pull tabs.

Green River Valley Combined Club- The January meeting was held at the Old Country Buffet in Kent on January the 3rd. Attendance was down due to the flu and other members "snowbirding" in Arizona for the Winter. The theme for January was to discuss the Regional Call minutes dated December, and the Easter Egg Hunt. The many fees in the minutes raised many questions and upset the membership. Green River president promised the members that he would report back to them after the Chapter meeting on the 8th of January. The Easter egg hunt to be held at the Tukwila Community Center will be held on March 23rd. Club is still collecting tabs, and coupons. There were 12 Hug-a-Bears delivered to the Graham Fire Department on 224th Street and 12 delivered to the Washington State Soldiers Home in Orting. Next club meeting will be February 7th same location in Kent.

North Star Council- Collecting Tabs, toiletries, stamps, Campbell’s soup labels and box tops.

Seattle Council – Our annual Furry Giving Tree holiday event collected items for two animal charities, Pasado’s Safe Haven and Homeward Pet Adoption. We had no December meeting so will reconvene on January 15 when Glenda will install our 2013 officers. We are still doing all the regular collections of coupons, pop tabs and so on. Contact Susan Anstead for more information.

Puget Sound LMC –sent 7,637 coupons overseas to Okinawa. We collected over 80 unwrapped toys and 15 Christmas stockings for “Toys for Tots” at our December luncheon, A Marine stationed at Joint Base Lewis McChord picked up the toys the next day. Our Childhaven family this year consisted of a mother, 30year old girl and a 2-year old boy. We spent $500.00 for toys, clothes, household items and a gift card for food. Our next luncheon is tomorrow, January 9th at the Old Country Buffet in Federal Way at 11:30AM.

Tacoma CC - collecting same items, and items for the Washington Soldier’s Home in Orting.

Next Meeting: February 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
