Puget Sound Life Member Club

Meetings

Come and join us at our monthly luncheon and meeting. Monthly luncheon scheduled for second Wednesday of each month at Barnaby’s in Tukwila at 11:30. Executive committee meetings take place on the following Tuesday at the Burien Library.

Projects

Puget Sound Life Member Club projects include Reader's For Life, Childhaven, Hospitality House, toys for the Salvation Army, and food banks.

Our Reader's For Life project is ongoing. Last year we purchased 341 books for alhalla Elementary and 208 books for Hazel Valley Elementary. These books are for children in Kindergarten though 3rd grade.

The kids and teachers were so happy to have the books. They read them with their reading buddy and then took them home to read with their family. We received a wonderful "Thank you Qwest Pioneers" poster and many smaller notes of thanks.

Please email Ruth, rlkalies@aol.com if you have any questions or comments.

Dues Increase

Greetings Pioneers:

Thank you for being a valuable member of the Qwest Washington Pioneers.

The Pioneer Board of Directors approved a membership dues increase from $15 to $22 effective this June – the first dues increase for us since 1998. You will see $0.85 per pay period deducted from your paycheck – up from $0.58 – starting June 13, 2009.

The increase will help fund our projects here in Washington. It also helps us ensure we can continue to offer you meaningful volunteer opportunities along with the benefits of national partnerships. To learn more about what we are doing in Washington or to get more involved, please visit please email Sandy at scramer581@aol.com

Additionally, Pioneers have developed programs, such as Power Up To Read and Project Connect, that enable Pioneers to deliver valuable educational services at little or no cost to schools and community organizations. These programs also support the Qwest for Education Programs.

We appreciate your continued support as we work together to provide services in our communities that improve the quality of life for the less fortunate.
