Meeting – 11/14/2012

Meeting called to order at 12:05 p.m. by Susan Anstead, Seattle Council President.

Attendance: Jennifer Moore, Susan Anstead, Dora Curry, Marian Wilcox and Donna VanOmmeren.

Volunteer Hours Reported – as of Nov. 13th, Seattle Council has 4,180 hours.

Meeting Minutes Approved

Membership Report – Seattle Council has 1 associate member and 172 regular members for a total membership of 173. Washington Chapter has 6,844 members.

Old Business Revisited and/or Committee Reports

a. Furry Giving Tree – starts Nov. 26th and ends Dec. 21st. Jennifer has Pasado Safe Haven’s tree ornaments. Marian is still waiting for ornaments to arrive from Homeward Pet Adoption.
b. Chinook Books – sale is over; made a profit of $232.50. Jennifer has signed up for “early bird” for 2013 which affords the best percentage of sales. There is no binding contract.
c. Portrait Location – will start at 1st Ave. garage for about a month. Waiting until contract negotiations are settled to begin portrait “tour”.
d. Beep Easter Egg Hunt – Marian spoke with Marlynn Olson. Last year there were fewer kids and more guide puppies. Green River Combined Club is looking for help. At the Chapter meeting it was suggested that the organizers be made up of all the Seattle area clubs and councils, participation optional. Duties such as advertising and stuffing eggs with candy can be divided up. Marian will be the representative from Seattle Council. Will there be a monetary commitment? There may be as the biggest expense is the building rental, which is $400.00 to $500.00. Marian will email the presidents of the clubs and councils about participating.
e. Treehouse – final report from Rhonda that 230 boxes and bags have gone to Treehouse since she started collecting. A big Thank You to Rhonda for the great job of collecting and delivering all those boxes and bags to Treehouse!

New Business and Projects

a. TOYS FOR TOTS and the Seattle/Tacoma Technicians – Jane sent out an email regarding collection of new and gently used unwrapped toys. A CenturyLink trailer will be in front of Bell Plaza on Dec. 12th from 7 to 10am to collect the toys.
b. Installing 2013 Officers – tentative date of Jan. 15th. Susan will verify with Glenda if she is available on that date and then will notify Donna, who will reserve the conference room.
c. BP Drop Off Location – email from Bea about using conference room 912 as drop off/collection site when we need it. No more drop offs at Bea’s desk, except for money, to minimize disruption at her work area.
d. Homeward Holiday Gift Wrapping at Barnes & Noble – Peggy from Homeward Pet Adoption inviting us to come help at their gift wrapping event at participating Barnes & Noble stores. Marian will send out information to those who are interested.
e. Pocket Flags – feedback at Chapter meeting that recipients love the pocket flags. Flags are going to Afghanistan. Chapter is looking for amount of interest in doing the flag folding in 2013. Last year the Chapter covered the costs and folded flags at the face to face meeting and there was interest in doing that again. Seattle organized an event in Bell Plaza for Flag Day to fold the remaining flags and is willing to organize another event in 2013. Does each club want to order the flags or does the chapter want to have a combined order?
f. December Meeting – no meeting in December.
