1999 - 2000 Program Year Summary

We started our study in September by updating members to new products now available. We painted the different products and then machine embroidered them for samples.

In October, we made lace on a limb, cording and tapes. In November, we made ribbon and tape lace to be used as an applique, inserts, edging or motif. In December, we made Christmas decorations for the tree and gift wrap. In January, we made machine stitched six sided star tassels. In February, we made fabric fortune cookies.

At the March meeting, we stitched on fabric and paper to make 3 different styles of greeting cards:

1. An oval window using dried plant material and threads over fabric bits;

2.   A circle window of an embroidered motif on  machine embroidered lace; and,

3.    A collaged card.

Janine Hunt instructed us at our April meeting in making a twelve block wall hanging using machine embroidering, quilting, and fabric manipulation.

In May, we made cable lace, which uses heavy thread in the bobbin while sewing the reverse side of the pattern; then embellished the lace with couched threads and seed beads.

Our next Meeting is in September.

We learn many new ideas from the show and tell of our members.
