To Residents of the Ravenna/Bryant Community From Saxe Floral & Greenhouses
We at Saxe Floral and Greenhouses would like to take this opportunity to clarify our current direction as a business and long time member of the community.
Recently, our family has been going through a period of transition for a number of reasons. First, the family patriarch, Louis F. Javete, passed away on August 12th, after over 50 years of living and working in the community. As many of you know as our valued customers and friends, he was the driving force behind the business and he will be dearly missed. Second, over the last decade there have been substantial shifts in our industry, which have made it more difficult for smaller growing nurseries, like us, to be competitive as growers. Based upon these and other related events, it is imperative for us, as a business to evolve, which is never easy, but frequently inevitable. Currently, we are focused on what is best for our business, our family and our community.
The following is an explanation of our preliminary plan for the business. Saxe will continue to operate in its current form for the near term. Over the next few years will be downsizing the physical area on which the business operates. First, we will relocate the floral shop to 25th NE, while we construct a wonderful new outdoor and indoor retail space for the flower shop and nursery with apartments above on NE 65th. There will also be a large outdoor sales area where we will continue to offer an excellent selection of annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs. Long term, a second phase of building will consist of a grouping of townhouses with corresponding open spaces, which we feel will be an excellent addition and enhancement to the neighborhood.
We are very excited about this transition and look forward to continue being an integral part of the Ravenna-Bryant community. Thank you for all your support and for your thoughts and warm wishes on the passing of my husband and our father.
