THE ANGER OF THE SLUMS
Went to the bookstore &
stole a copy of IN THE HEART
OF THE SEA: THE TRAGEDY OF THE
WHALESHIP ESSEX, which is fantastic and fraught with cannibals, &
perused the new Creeley,
which I found to be not untouching
though mostly I found him tedious. I mean,
can't he stop winking in his jacket photos!
I know it's terrible of me,
but I always imagined it was a marshmallow roasting accident. Right now I'm
listening to the RANDY NEWMAN SONGBOOK VOL. 1
& "keeping the niggers down"
like my last act of melodrama
or that ever-so-fashionable backwards rape scene
& the endless small sufferings of heart
sashaying through the entrails of this city in a bloody shirt
as the past insults beauty with a good beating
where I spotted a great stomach lying quietly in the snow.
