hello my dear

I drove around
a lot today
thinking about
your bewitching
body
I want to creep up
your stairs tonight into
your skinny arms
smell the smell of you in the dark and
surprise you quietly
with the sounds I'll coax from your mouth

home from the flood

home from that barbaric business
strikebreaking
in Santiago, or Cali
he has a driver, a translator
now he's home from the doubled salary
the bulletproof vest
the airplane
money eating time

home is merely another hotel
a quiet house
with dead flowers
at the top of the stairs
dusty and silent
with framed pictures of a woman
to keep him company

jetlagged
he eats at a restaurant
not alone
he's got the pictures of the black-haired woman
in his wallet
