Eirikur Orn Norddahl

Eirikur Orn Norddahl is a young Icelandic poet who lives in a small town in northwestern Iceland. He has many books in Icelandic and is a major translator from English and German. This poem is from his collection Blandararbrandarar, which translates roughly as Blenderbender.

My laughter is the coo of a humming bird.

It describes my hilarity.

In the Nazca plains of southern Peru
indians carved a humming bird so colossal
that it can only be seen from an airplane.
