Poem

I receive suggestive stares

from the woman across the street.

There are postcards that are rude,

and special kinds of food.

When will they come my way?

She is always the same person.

Always undressed and waiting in bed.

She resembles me only in the sense

that she seems like me.

The girl down the hall has breasts

to nudge me while I sleep.

It happens around five in the morning,

through the wall to the left of my bed.

When I check the mailbox all I find

is her ripped stockings.
