"SEEN, HEARD, SAID..."

"We'll be spending about 3 billion dollars"
Gina Marie Lindsey at the September 13th, 2000 Part 150 meeting when asked how much the Port was planning to spend on Sea-Tac terminal improvements in the next 5-7 years.

"Of course we over-schedule, but we don't do it together. We have to compete"

Don Carty, CEO of American Airlines, talking to reporters in New York on September 12th, 2000.

Two New SCAA Board Members

SCAA Director Rick Lee has resigned, for health reasons.  As a founding member of SCAA, Rick has been instrumental in getting SCAA recognized not only in his community of Georgetown but in many areas of Seattle, where he spoke about our work.  He was also the Chief Editor of this Newsletter, and Secretary of the Board.  We wish him all the best and thank him for all his hard work, and humor.  He will be sorely missed.
The Board approved the appointment of Marvyn McCoy, from Georgetown, as a new Director.  Marvyn, who is an attorney, has been active in airport issues, particularly those dealing with the impacts of KCIA on Georgetown.
The Board has approved Paul Shannon from Seward Park as a new director.  Paul has closely followed Sea-Tac issues and has already been involved with maintain ing SCAA's website (www.airportnoise.org).  Both new board members are welcome additions as SCAA expands to include as many Seattle communities as possible.

Horizon to Replace Noisy F28s

Horizon Airlines has announced an early retirement for their Stage-2 Fokker F28 jets--some of the noisiest planes flying at Sea-Tac.  The F28s will be replaced by a new Canadair RJ series regional jet that promises to be one of the quietest  flying at Sea-Tac. If all goes as promised, the F28's will be gone by the end of 2001.
