The National Organization to Insure a Sound-Controlled Environment (N.O.I.S.E.)  will be holding its 31st annual conference and Airport Noise Symposium in Portland on July 18-20, 2001.  This group is very active on aviation legislation in Washington D.C.  Check out their web site at www.aviation-noise.org

Not being recommended at this time are nighttime curfews or banning of Stage 2 aircraft less than 75,000 lbs. or restrictions to helicopter operations.
The study process is scheduled to conclude with a King County public hearing in October followed by submission to the FAA early next year.  The FAA then takes up to 180 days to approve the study.◄

"SEEN, HEARD, SAID..."

The City of Kenner, Louisiana passed a resolution in April asking its representatives in Congress, Congressmen Billy Tauzin and David Vitter, to intervene on behalf of the City by withholding federal funds for runway expansion at nearby New Orleans International Airport.

Children in areas close to airports or underneath some flightpaths were "being taught in a disadvantaged learning environment".

The FAA is to release its long awaited report on non-military helicopter noise later this year.  Information may be found at
