
Responsibilities & Qualifications of SCNA Board Members
Time Commitment:
- Responsibilities:
- 1) to ensure that SCNA's policies, activities and program priorities are congruent with the mission and principles stated in the SCNA bylaws.
- 2) to provide leadership for the organization as a whole and for specific committee(s) within SCNA.
- 3) to fulfill fiduciary responsibilities and provide prudent and responsible oversight of SCNA's funding mechanism and allocation of its resources.
- 4) to communicate the vision and accomplishments of SCNA and its volunteers.
Each newly-elected Board member will serve for a three-year term.Qualifications:Board members will attend one monthly Board meeting and at least one monthly committee meeting. They will attend the SCN General Meeting as frequently as possible. They will be subscribed to the SCNA-Board list and appropriate committee lists for review of SCN and SCNA matters, and will review and respond promptly to posted messages. If special meetings or executive sessions are called, they will make every effort to attend. The time commitment required for effective Board participation is a minimum of 15 hours per month.
SCNA Board members must be committed to ensuring equitable access to computer technology for everyone. Prior experience in board development, community outreach, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and management, accounting, media relations and computer technology would be helpful. Board members should be team players. Diversity on the Board is encouraged.SCNA is going through a period of rapid change. Board members should be flexible, goal-oriented, and possess a good sense of humor.
Experience as an SCNA volunteer should be a significant factor in choosing new Board members.
