SNOMEC is a nonpartisan civic organization that interviews and rates candidates running for political office in Snohomish and Island Counties on their knowledge of, record of proven activism for, and commitment to the concerns of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered (GLBT) communities. SNOMEC operates as a committee of SEAMEC, the Seattle Metropolitan Elections Committee for Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, and the Transgendered, which has been serving the community since 1977. In this, SNOMEC's fourth year of interviewing political candidates on gay issues, we are rating candidates for the US Congress, the State Legislature, and also the County Prosecutor. Additional ratings for King County candidates are available on the SEAMEC site.
Our ratings are published well in advance of the primary and general
elections, so voters can make an informed choice. Our printed rating
sheets are sent by direct mail to members and supporters, and they are
available in public libraries throughout Snohomish County, in addition to
being posted on this site.
