WHAT IS SEATTLE INSTITUTE?
Founded in 1975, Seattle Institute for Sex Therapy, Education and
Research operates on the principle that sexual energy is a positive
expression of human life. We take a non-judgmental attitude toward the
variety of expressions of sexual energy which are not self-destructive or
exploitative of others. Our purpose is to assist people to explore and
discover their own sexuality and to support them in finding ways to meet
their needs. We serve a diverse group of women and men across traditional
boundaries of sexual orientation and lifestyle. Counseling is available for
heterosexual, lesbian, gay bisexual and transgender individuals and couples.
All fees are negotiable, based on ability to pay.

kind in this area that offers fee reductions. We appeal to those of you who

SEATTLE INSTITUTE STAFF AND BOARD
STAFF MICHELE CLARKSON, M.S.W.,
is an AASECT
certified sex therapist who works with individuals, couples and facilitates
groups. She currently leads the Pre-Orgasmic Women's Group. She
provides sex therapy supervision for AASECT interns.
ELIZABETH RAE LARSON, M.S., PhDc, FAACS,
is
co-founder and current director of Seattle Institute and practices as a
therapist and educator. She has been elected a Clinical Fellow of the
American Academy of Clinical Sexologists and is certified as a Sex
Therapist, Sex Educator and Clinical Supervisor by the American Board of
Sexology. She is a certified Safe Sex Instructor/Advisor. Her clinical
practice with individuals , couples and small groups focuses on social and
sexual development. A portion of her practice is dedicated to treatment of
survivors and their partners. She also works with sex offenders and people
with obsessive-compulsive sexual problems.
MALCOLM MCKAY, M.Ed.,CMHC,
is a counselor in private
practice with a focus in sex therapy and sexuality counseling. Adolescent
and family counseling as well as a variety of groups are part of his practice.
For Seattle Institute he is currently leading groups for HIV+ couples and a
men's sexual self-esteem. Founder of NWAF safer sex groups and HIV
University, He is currently on the adjunct faculty at Antioch University
Seattle and holds certification as a Safe Sex Instructor/Advisor.
CONSULTANTS
MICHAEL KELCH, M.S.W., ACSW,
is a therapist working
with couples and individuals in marital and sexuality counseling. His
current interests include disorders of sexual desire and sex therapy with
couples where one partner has been sexually abused or raped. He has
extensive experience in the treatment of victims of violent crime.
MARILYN MCINTYRE, M.S.W.,
is a co-founder of Seattle
Institute and a therapist in private practice. She is a certified sex therapist
(AASECT). Her work in sexuality includes individual, couple and group
therapy, public speaking, professional training and consultation.
BOARD
KAREN KUMMERFELDT,
co-founded Loveseasons in 1977,
the first NW store providing products and information about human
sexuality. She has attended trainings at the Institute for the Advanced
Study of Human Sexuality. She continues to manage her 2 stores and train
her staff to inform people of the joys of human sexuality.
Elizabeth Rae Larson also serves on the Board.
