The following plan objectives are based on comments widely expressed during the first public meeting:
Increase Visibility for better Natural Surveillance of the Park
Provide Safer Access and Improve Pedestrian Circulation
Accommodate Families with Children, Senior Citizens and Neighborhood Youth.
Provide Places for Sitting, Picnicking, and Group Activities
The following ideas are common to each of the plans:
Remove diseased and declining spruce trees. Plant new deciduous trees to replace them.
Regrade the south portion of the park to: 1) increase visibility into the park from NW 90th. 2) connect upper and lower areas of the park. 3) provide an open passive lawn area.
Incoporate a picnic shelter at a visibly prominent location with good surveillance.
Improve pedestrian circulation and develop a loop path with benches.
Open viewsheds into the park from NW 92nd to improve park surveillance.
