PLAY ELEMENTS/EXPERIENCE
Keep tennis courts
Keep Small Faces Preschool in mind while designing
Climbing wall - yes
Accommodate skateboards & set it up to keep older kids separate from preschool play
Tennis practice wall
Keep a wading pool
Area for children to dig (sand)
Incorporate classic games like hot lava, hopscotch & 4-square (2 mentions)
Like the summer playground program
Soft equipment and stairs
Hanging bars
Salmon Bay play area well-zoned, safe play areas
Too much for older kids
Not enough stuff for teenagers to do
Provide tables for games (chess, etc.)
Raise flower beds, accessible to wheelchairs
Sand in a portion of the playground, woodchips or other elsewhere
Like the distance between play area and parking lot
Design for multiple children age groups (safety/diversity)
Want climbing structures (like Zoo park and Magnuson Park)
Keep existing swings (2 comments)
Cable swing
Distinct, separate activity zones for different age groups
Provide shady area/covered space close to play areas
Add water toy/sculpture attachment to wading pool
Like steering wheels, gang planks, hot lava
Toddler structure with tubes and railings
Lawn area connected to play area (not part of ball fields) for informal use (Frisbee, etc)
Suspension bridge
Pro inclusion of play for older children - 2 mentions
Want fountains and wading pool
ACCESSIBILITY
Would like a place to walk (perhaps a section for dog walking)
Easier stroller access (especially on the northwest end)
Improve north access point perhaps by removing the bar that is there
Would like a sidewalk by tennis courts - use all-weather paths
Current walkway is dangerous
Safe walkways
Change the grade to improve visibility
Keep northwest access open
Change path surfacing (lava rocks)
VISIBILITY
Would be nice to be able to see across
Want lighting
Remove some slope or change to improve visibility and usability
Remove shrubs that serve as cover for bathroom
Currently it is a “scary” park-personal safety (4 mentions)
Not enough lights (6 comments)
Lighting (motion sensors, consider neighbor impact) - 10 people raised hand in support of this
Add lights to west end of existing parking lot
AESTHETICS
Like shade from mature trees
Kids could design tiles - ocean theme
Take advantage of possible view of Mt. Rainier
Suggest themes/sculpture combined with good play experience (not to impact negatively)
A defined entry & signage to create presence (theme/art/color)
Maintain older trees rather than removing - 2 mentions
50’s theme to reflect Olympic Manor
Theme: water/mountains - neighborhood character
Sitting area, pleasant for reading, contemplation bench
Gardens, plantings, vegetation, seasonal color
Would like to see a hand washing station & drinking fountains
OTHER

Yes to picnic shelter
PARKING & NW 90th ST.
Concern about parking if the western access is opened up
Not enough parking
Parking on 20th is a concern
Shelter for shade/dry
Speeders on 90th are a concern (2 mentions)
Close parking lot at night
Put speed bumps in the parking lot
Put a fence along 90th playfields to prevent cars from driving on the fields
Add a sign limiting speed
