Return to The Future Park
1st Public Design Meeting
Suggestions From Suggestion Box
How
about a Booce Ball area? It would probably be popular with retirees, especially mean.
I
would like to see a covered area that used the artwork (tiles).
This would provide shade and a good picnic lunch area.
This could also be a good area for older people to visit and play
chess. Some parks allow groups
to call and reserve this covered area in advance.
A good example of this is at Magnusen. Also there is a covered area
at Bryant Park. I would also
like to see toddler slides as well as play for older kids.
I would also like to see some of the softer ground surfaces.
Maybe the small sand box area could also be under a covered area with
benches all the way around for parents and others to sit and watch the kids
while they visit with each other. My
last statement is that my kids love the swings and the wading pool!!!
Thank you – I’ll help with this project as much as I can!
Benches
– my students could design/make benches.
Benches
around the pool would be nice when I watch my children swim. Also if you do
a soft mat under the play stuff, if it comes in different colors it would be
neat to see it in a design of something (a huge fish, tree shapes).
I’d
like to see grass surrounding the existing wading pool, as opposed to the
current cement, which is not very inviting or safe for little kids playing
around the pool.
Please
do not open access from park onto 92nd.
Nighttime traffic will increase.
Now people don’t go over fence.
No
pedestrian access on 92nd to park.
Bench seating among butterfly garden.
Access
through to 92nd street is very important – the more
access the better – for safety and use!
Types
of play equipment – boat, climbing wall
Other Parks You Like – Broadview Thompson, Webster, Salmon Bay
I
like the equipment that is there – would like to see more equipment that
covers larger span of ages. Would
like a steering wheel, climbing tubes like Webster, and tube slices, and
twirly slides. A bathroom with
a sink would be wonderful. We like the summer playground program and the
wading pool and the swings. Other
Parks You Like – Webster, Gilman
Types
of Play Equipment – climbing walls, bridges, plastic slide.
Make
park more appealing to children of all ages.
Would like a pre-school area somewhat separated.
Play
equipment similar to the equipment at Salmon Bay or Broadview parks.
Equipment suitable for toddlers.
Tennis Backboard.
Make
tennis courts double as activity court i.e.: basketball, wall ball, 4 square
etc. – a cement area for ball playing.
I
have been going to the playground since I was 4.
Now I’m 13. 9 years of
going to that park and honestly I don’t ever want to see it go.
I live a block away from the park and I hang our there almost every
day. If the park turns into a baby
park I will never go there ever again. Ideas: There should be a place to
skateboard, roller blade, etc. Teenagers
should be able to hang out without being bored.
I think there should be some way to divide the babys away from the
older kids. I don’t think
anything should be too little kiddy. There
should be merry go round, swings, little slide, and a climbing structure. The swings should stay.
Really, I don’t like anything about this.
A
walking path around the park, playfields, school.
The path might eventually connect to Carkeek Park, Blue Ridge parks,
North Beach beach access, and Golden Gardens Park.
Keep:
pool, swings, tennis courts, trees/ shade/ cool/ babies and elders.
Intergenerational, separate young child area and older child area
(like Webster Park). Different types of areas of play i.e. Vegetation, open,
equipment, and pool. Perhaps creative play through levels or terraces.
Children’s creativity in design (name it). Water fountains, Hopscotch/ 4
square painted on. Part of theme -> Virtues (children’s drawing)
Respect/ Consideration/ Unity.
