Medicinal Properties: Stimulant, expectorant, sialagogue, antivenomous

This is excellent  for breaking  up colds, rheumatism, influenza, and Bright's disease. It causes profuse perspiration. Effective in various fevers, diabetes, dropsy, pleurisy, catarrh, and jaundice.  An excellent   remedy for mumps, taken  internally  as a tea, and applied  externally   as a fomentation  or  poultice  to reduce  swelling. Fold a cloth  three  or four thicknesses  and dip in hot  tea and  apply. Very effective in asthma and diphtheria. It will stop hiccoughs. Excellent  to stimulate  the  growth of the  hair. Dip the fingers in tea made  of the leaves several times a day and massage  the scalp thoroughly.
