VALERIAN

Botanical Name: Valeriana officinalis

Common Names: English valerian, German valerian, great wild valerian, vermon valerian, vandal root,
                          all heal, set wall, American English valerian (grown in U S.)

Medicinal Properties: Aromatic, stimulant, tonic, anodyne, antispasmodic, nervine

Excellent nerve tonicóvery quieting and soothing. Useful in hysterics. Will promote menstruation when taken hot. Excellent for children in measles, scarlet fever, and restlessness. Give two tablespoonfuls two or three times daily. Good for convulsions in infants. Useful in colic, low fevers, to break up colds, and also gravel in the bladder. Healing to ulcerated stomach, and very powerful to prevent fermentation and gas. The tea is very healing applied to sores and pimples externally, and must also be taken internally at the same time. Relieves palpitation of the heart.

DO NOT BOIL THE ROOT.
