Student Covenant

Community Information Systems

Fall, 2000

Community Information Systems is an ambitious 9-month program that requires dedicated student work. Student evaluation will depend in large part on how well she or he works with the partners, other students, and the faculty members.

Students agree that they are planning to take this program for all three quarters barring any other arrangements with faculty members or unforeseen circumstances.

Student must always acknowledge the use of other people's ideas and words. The work we submit must reflect our own ideas, or it must cite where the ideas came from. Failure to make such acknowledgments or to present the work of others as our own is plagiarism. Any student who plagiarizes material will, at a minimum, receive reduced credit in the program. (Note: this paragraph is based largely on the Community, Communications, Computers program student covenant.)

Throughout the quarter each student will maintain a Program Portfolio. This will be a three-ring notebook with loose-leaf paper and dividers for syllabus, notes, handouts, and other major areas.

The following are all required for full credit:

Good attendance. Each student will attend all program sessions. A person can miss one session, if the faculty is told in advance, without a loss of credit. Missing time in excess of that will likely result in a loss of credit.

Students will participate in all in-class activities. This means listening to faculty and other students when they are speaking and being an active participant in team meetings, workshops, and seminars.

Students will participate in the CIS partnership project and case study. During the course of these projects students will need to meet with other students in their teams at time outside of established program time. Each student realizes that this is part of the program requirements and must plan and act accordingly. All required deliverables will be turned in at the required times.

All students must complete and submit a self-evaluation and a faculty evaluation (one each per quarter) in order to receive credit for the program.

All students will abide by the CIS Partnership Project Ground Rules and Guidelines.
