CIS Project Assessment -- beginning of winter quarter

For each of the main points below, your team should be able to demonstrate that the issues are under control or explain what you're going to do about it if it isn't.

Communication with Community
What is your general assessment of your communication with your community: good? clear? Does it happen with the appropriate frequency? How could it be improved? Are you getting "buy off" from the community at important points and important decisions?

Teamwork
Is there consensus within the group on decisions and how to proceed? Is there good communication within the team? Is everybody being heard? Nobody dominates? Is the management approach the team has adopted working? Why or why not? What steps are you taking to improve this if it needs improving? Do all people know their responsibilities at all times?

Understanding of Task
Does everybody on the team and the community have a good idea about the nature of the broad task? Has the broad task been subdivided into reasonable sized units? Is there a written document that describes the functionality and requirements of the end-result?

Campaign
Does everybody on the team understand what's involved with the community's campaign? What steps are being taken to ensure that the campaign element is being addressed?

Skill Level
Do all team members currently have the skills they need to play a strong role in the completion of the project? If not, are you making progress towards this?

Planning & Progress
Is there (1) within your team and (2) with the community, an understanding of the major goals including deliverables like documents and user interface designs and events like delivery of software, completion of user interface, etc. Can you list the major milestones? Are the major milestones listed in the right order in your plan? Does the schedule show the interdependencies? Have you allotted adequate time for each activity? Has your customer reviewed this schedule? Is it up to date? Is it clear who is working on each task?

When you've answered all the questions, rate each task type above from 1 (out of control) to 5 (totally under control) and list them in order from most under control to least. What is the average of all these six areas?
