• Graphics and Photography , Seattle WA, (2003-) Developing brochures, cards etc for a variety of clients using Illustrator and Photoshop skills. Documenting a wide range of events with digital photography.
  
  SOME COMPLETED ASSIGNMENTS:
• Axial Infosolutions , Kirkland WA, (2003) Exporting client data from multiple MSSQL databases in XML format, for input to Popchart and Miramo, to produce individualized client quarterly reports for INVESCOs 22,000 clients.
• Seattle Community Network , Seattle WA, (1995-2001) Volunteer, coordinating the development and maintenance of CGI scripts available to their information providers.
• Market Engine Corp, Berkeley CA, (2000-1) Data Base Architect, led the development of a highly fault tolerant and very high performance data base system for use by online financial trading systems. System employed the memory mapped KDB system and was custom supplemented with redundancy pathways for hot swapping uptodate remotely located copies.
• Lazarsfeld Center, Columbia University, NY NY, (since 1998-9) Contractor, Interpreting legacy S+, and APL+ code to model the forms attained by participants in production markets based on their W(y) market model, in K.
• Aeiveos Corp, Seattle WA, (1997-8) Contractor, developed a high performance GenBank search algorithm. This algorithm is tailored to find PCR pairs in the sequenced and catalogued public record which may explain most lines on a PCR gel. Intended for highly approximate "high temperature" PCR probes. Algorithm in J, GenBank parsing in Perl, Gui/Net-interface in Java.
• Seattle School District and Ingraham HS, Seattle WA, (1990-2000) Analysis and documentation of the 9th grade Bridge program. Creation of promotional graphics and brochures. Using Databases, Excel, Photoshop and Illustrator
• RTIME Inc, Seattle WA, Senior scientist (1996-7), Porting of a military gaming (the distributed interactive simulations - DIS, tactical training system and SIMNET, simulation network) technology for use in the emerging commercial internet games market. Responsible for porting the API to VRML and Java platforms, and advanced graphics algorithms. RTime has since been acquired by Sony, who also included the Delta Graphics simulator as the core of the Playstation.
• Dept of BioStructure, UoW, Senior fellow, (1993-5), Development of interactive tools and algorithms to speed the segmentation and comparison of brain components from medical image data, allowing surgeons to have a 3D view of the brain before and during surgery, in order to map language and sensory areas during an operation. i made this and other anatomical work, performed in the department, available to the web through CGI scripts, Java, images and VRML.
• BBN Delta Graphics, Bellevue WA, Scientist, (1987-1994), Responsible for selecting algorithms for many challenging problems in graphics, computation, and the human interface within their realtime 3D graphics simulation system. Constructed a system to convert MRI medical image data into polygonal objects viewable on the BBN Computer Image Generator (CIG) allowing real time 3D manipulation. Delta (now part of Lockheed Martin) was the original contractor which created the SIMNET (Simulation Network) system of networked ground combat training systems for DARPA.
• Continuum Data Systems, Toronto ON (1982-1987) Research director for 10 engineers, led the development of a comprehensive document automation system for office automation. Led the development of digital hardware with highly parallel bit wide processors for a real time pattern recognition capability. Demonstrated this with an adaptive online hand print recognition system and Prolog engine.
• ProMedic Manufacturing, Toronto ON, (1978-1980) Construct an arbitrary word textual data base retrieval system. Index size, 10% of data storage.
  
  ACADEMIC EXPERIENCE:
• During studies at Harvard, MIT, Duke, U of Toronto and the U of Washington there were teaching assistantships in: Mathematical Sociology, Social Relations Methodology, Computers and Society, Applied Algebra, Introduction to Computing, Physics lab Practice and a college tutor appointment for Computer Science.
• There were also opportunities to perform academic research on social networks (friendship, kinship, corporate interlock and communication structures); psychology (including psychophysiology, and neurology); data bases (including tagging the meanings of words in context for text data bases and managing large databases of corporate interlock records); graph theory (algorithms for graph homomorphism as a clustering technology, other algorithms for determining clustering and structural similarities in relational data); and graphics (representation and compression of polygonal surfaces)
