Friends,

Join with me in praying for our newest NW congregational start, Friends of the One. The New Church Ministry folks say that Disciples are starting “a thousand new churches, a thousand different ways.” That sure is true in the Northwest Region. Rod Smith, coordinator of our New Church Companions Team, was key in helping this congregation be received by the regional board as a “Congregation in Formation.”

It is my sense that we live in a time when God is calling us into new ways of living and being with one another in the church and in our world. Listening for the voice and call of God takes us on journeys that are beyond our imagining. The voices of people in our new churches seem often to be part of the chorus of God’s people who call us to open our ears and eyes in new ways.
