Announcements
John Deeter has set up a Web page for the Sounding Board.

Deirdre Grace (DON) will be at the University Neighborhood Service Center on Friday afternoons.

Shoreline Park on Ship Canal at 7th N.E.
Brian Ramey (Friends of Brooklyn) solicited support for developing this street-end park. FOB is requesting a "Small and Simple Grant" from the City for this purpose. Send e-mail comments to Allyn Ruth (DON) at <allyn.ruth@ci.seattle.wa.us>.

Mitigation from Seahawks
Jeannie Hale (Laurelhurst Community Club) discussed a proposal for the Seattle Seahawks to fund the development of "Blakely Cresent Park" (at 25th Ave. NE and Blakely Place) as partial mitigation for the Seahawks' use of Husky Stadium. The Northeast District Council has passed a resolution supporting this proposal.

Park Privitization
Jorgen Bader (Ravenna-Bryant Community Assn.): The City is backing a measure in the legislature that would allow the City to create a Parks District. The first version of this measure would have allowed the creation of an independent municipal corporation, with powers somewhat beyond those of the City, including the power to privitize some resources such as the Zoo and the Aquarium. The Seattle Community Council Federation is opposed to this measure. It has been replaced by a modified measure which fits the Parks District into the existing munincipal organization, which the SCCF says is more acceptable.

Sound Transit
There was a meeting on January 18, where people discussed possible economic development in the vicinity of UCUC Link stations.

Roosevelt Commons Development
Deirdre G. (DON): A major mixed-use development has been proposed north of 43rd St., between Roosevelt Way and 11th Ave. It will consist of two buildings (5 and 7 stories), with apartments in the top two stories of the taller building. DCLU has identifies three areas of possible environmental concern: Traffic and transportation; Land use; and Construction-related impacts. There will be a public scoping meeting on Jan. 26, at the University Inn.

Next meeting
Thursday, February 17, 2000. Please send agenda items to J. Deeter <deeter@astro.washington.edu>.
