Subject: Help us close the gap!

Dear Friends,

As you know Friends of Ravenna Woods has been working with City Council and the Parks Department to acquire the 1.1 acre natural area that is proposed for development on Ravenna Avenue N.E. FRW committed to raise $450,000 to help with the acquisition. Additionally, we applied for and received a matching grant of $300,000. The City has also allocated $250,000 toward the purchase of Ravenna Woods. We are getting very close to our goal.

FRW is very pleased that the City is now close to acquiring the property. On March 13, City Council passed an ordinance which accepts the community contribution to buy Ravenna Woods and preserve it as open space. The City has asked that the community money be given to the City during the last week in March.

During the last 5 months, FRW has raised all but $2000 of the full $450,000 it committed to help purchase the property. We now have about one week to raise the remaining $2000. We are asking everyone who supports the purchase of this property as open space, to help close the funding gap. We would very much appreciate it if you, too, could contribute to this effort. Any size donation would be greatly appreciated. All contributions are tax deductible.

If you can make a contribution, please do so by next Monday, March 20 if at all possible. There is a little bit of flexibility to this date, but not much. Please make the check payable to: The Land Conservancy/Ravenna Woods, and mail it to:

The Land Conservancy
615 Second Avenue
Suite 525
Seattle, WA 98104.

If you would like your contribution returned to you in the event that Ravenna Woods is not purchased, please include a note saying so.

The preservation of this property as a public open space is a truly remarkable achievement for everyone and an obviously preferred alternative to the large congregate residence project that is proposed to be developed on the property. We hope you can help to make it happen.

Please feel free to contact me by phone (206-524-3926) or email if you have any questions and to let FRW know if you can make a contribution. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Laura Dixon-Dybvad
