How to create buy-in for EICC
--Have a clear do-able idea of goals
--have a plan that works
--know who is 'in charge'
--create a body group that is sustainable from year to year
--create a short newsletter
--have a PR person
--give usable trainings
--set up and have meetings (even if no one shows) to demonstrate continuity
--rotate meeting locations and times so that all can come once in a while
--join with other teams' meetings
--have supervisors as heads/chairs
--create subgroups
--get subgroups together to meet
--use MDIs as meeting grounds (any non AC USA or VISTA would have to travel anyway--why not to MDI?)
--use listserv
--have all team members join listserv when they sign on
Possible collaboration for next year
--IMAC schedules KISS projects for whole year; reserve a day and make plans for Tonasket and North Cluster of IMAC to collaborate on a project (North cluster includes: Oroville, Omak, Brewster, Bridgeport) --Contact is Sara Prichard
--SpokaneCorps willing to take members to other locations for service projects --contact isPaula Reynolds
--Tonasket willing to take members to other locations for service projects--contact is Lara Hill
SpokaneCorps
--Will be used as a model for a working EICC subgroup
--Uses a cabinet of positions to be filled so that there is a slot to be filled rather than having to create your own role
--has a 'Body" of members that meet to discuss future whole group meetings, plans agendas, decides trainings
Restructuring the area of EICC
--EICC is now broken into quadrants
--members will meet as EICC Quads 1-4 monthly
--all quads will meet 3 times per year as a whole group
--each quad will appoint a member to serve on the larger "Body" of EICC
--Quad 1 includes: Okanogan County, Ferry County, and any part of Chelan County above Chelan itself (Contact Lara Hill)--meeting places will include Omak, Tonasket, and Republic--
--Quad 2 includes: Stevens County, Pend Oreille County, Spokane County, and Lincoln County (Contact is Paula Reynolds-Eblacas) --meeting places will include Spokane, Colvile, and Davenport--
--Quad 3 includes: Whitman County, Adams County, Franklin County, Benton County, Walla Walla County, Colombia County, Garfield County, Klickitat County, and Asotin County (Contact is Paula Reynolds-Eblacas) -- meeting places will be arranged by Paula according to areas of interest)
--Quad 4 includes: Chelan County including and south of Chelan itself, Douglas County, Grant County, Kittitas County, and Yakima County (contact is Sara Prichard 509-665-8746) --meeting places will include Ellensburg, and Wenatchee)
Creating a Plan for next year's meetings
--Each quad will hold a meeting per month (regardless of size of attendance)
--All quads will meet 3 times per year; MDI in October, MDI in March, *Lake Wenatchee in June, *will perhaps get to use a summer camp at Kale Wenatchee if we agree to perform a service project in return
--Each quad will elect a person to serve as a member of the EICC Body, who will decide on focus of all quad EICC meetings
Creating Roles
--Each quad will have defined roles to fill to ensure sustainability
--Chairperson: Call meetings for both Body and general membership, run meetings, choose location and times of meetings
--Co-Chairperson: Set up trainings and collaborations
--Social Chairperson: Recruiter, visit other sites to plug ICC, organize celebrations/reflections on service
--Secretary: take minutes, send out to members, post to list serv, serve as memory from past meetings
Addendum:
We talked about further subdivision within quadrants if that is what will work for members in those areas. This was an important point to keep in mind, especially during the winter months, when a 3-hour drive on snow and ice to attend a two-hour meeting may not be so appealing.
