SWICC Meeting Minutes

Wednesday, April 11th

Longview, Washington

 

We had a better turnout today and I feel that we made some real progress.

We had WRC and RSVP and Cowlitz Network AmeriCorps and VISTA members present.

We had a 2 year VISTA Alumni sharing ideas for making our stipend stretch.

We also had an update for the state wide service project in Cowlitz County. Check in with Karen Fortuna for any questions about check-in on the 6th of July.

Danika Best shared information regarding Washington Reading Corps and Funding.

The networking between agencies continued long after the meeting was ended.

Ella Wilson, AmeriCorps/USA with Cowlitz AmeriCorps Program in Longview


We met from Noon till 1:00pm.

After introductions we had a check-in with members to address any concerns and questions regarding ICC. Some of the topics that members requested covering at next meeting where as follows:

*How to deal with stress/staff relationships
*Resource guide for AmeriCorps members
*Re-Visiting the learning/development we are suppose to have
*Nature of AmeriCorps vision and ICC vision

Danielle C suggested that we try to find an agency that would house our meeting monthly that would carry on till continuing years. She suggested that we look into RSVP and re-invite foster Grandparents programs to attend our meetings. All national service members are welcome Catherine B. reminded us. We all agreed that
first order of business was to find a place and then recruitment was next. We finished out lunch meeting.

Notes may be short and to the point, but so was our meeting. I am sorry for the short notice regarding location. This made it hard for some members to attend. I am open for suggestions on next months location and maybe a different day/time It was suggested that maybe we could meet on a Friday after team meetings?
