"Forget about spring clean-up in your yard! This next
Saturday, March 11, the SNC discussion is one you won't want
to miss. Transportation solution or boondoggle?
"Responding to the public outcry that 'We must do something,'
Sound Transit has proposed a multibillion dollar underground
light rail through Seattle. Paralleling prominent earthquake
fault lines, its cost, design, route and effectiveness has
undergone much costly study and challenge.
"Among those challengers has been Emory Bundy, environmentalist
and public transportation advocate, who now intends to file a
lawsuit against Sound Transit. Hear his reasons this Saturday at
SNC. Sharing the program is Dick Nelson, public transportation
analyst, who will bring new data that defines the problems and
challenges of designing public transportation in this region.
9:00 AM Greenhouse Cafe, 2205 7th Ave. See you there."

"Volunteer at Magnuson Park's Promontory Point habitat project. Pull
invasive plants, install interpretive signage, restore trails and plant
the last of the native plants. Learn about native plants and wildlife,
meet other interested people, earn community service hours and gain the
satisfaction of doing hands-on work with the earth.
"So far, nearly 200 volunteers have planted over 2,500 native plants at
Promontory Point. We have begun a native butterfly garden, and removed
many invasives like blackberry and ivy. Wear weatherproof clothing! We
work rain or shine. Pack a lunch and drinking water. Tools are provided."
