"Giving.org: Working for Seattle Youth - Empowerment through Employment"

"The initial program we are developing is an at-risk youth barista training program.

"The City of Seattle Parks Department was running a similar program until the fall of 1999. The program, Yo Hot Shots, was dissolved for a lack of funding. [It] helped at-risk youth enter the job market through an intensive training and placement program." ...

"Our second phase will be to run a similar program for Street Youth. We will be working with the Capitol Hill Youth Center and other Social Service organizations to provide a balanced service approach for these clients.

"The program will serve 60 clients in the first year of operation and will double annually for the first 3 years to reach a goal of 180 clients a year." ...

"Upon completion of the course requirements clients will benefit from our network of small business associates to provide job placement opportunities.

"In essence giving.org is a fledgling organization and could use your help.

"Current Volunteer needs:
- Programming Advice
- Youth Service Advice
- Legal Advice
- More and more networking for job placement."
