Zurbie Awards - Sunday, July 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at a location to
be announced.
The Zurbie Awards recognize "the best of the Web in Seattle." Voting will
take place online sometime in July. If you're on SeattleNetwork's
distribution list you can vote. Signing up for the list is free.
"The hope is to enjoy the company of others in our industry in fun and
interesting locations providing a perfect backdrop for networking."
Demo Club

Demo Club invites some local Internet startups who are looking for
funding to its bimonthly meetings with investors.
A Web gallery of startups' demo sites lets everyone guess which of them
will thrive.
Two of Demo Club's three founders are veterans of Zombie, a company whose
roller-coaster early history Fred Moody wrote about, along with some other
virtual reality startups and the UW Human Interface Technology (HIT) Lab, in
his book The Visionary Position.
FuckedCompany.com

A daily log of fact and rumor about the earthward dips and plunges of
dot-coms. Some of these companies have burned through millions or tens of
millions of dollars and have created nothing of value to anyone. Others are
still struggling with what might be good business ideas in a few years.
From this, you can start to get a sense of the kinds of things that people
aren't yet ready to buy online. Some of the floundering dot-commies' last
words are hilarious, and the site overlays everything with a humorous
commentary.
It's here because a few Seattle companies pass through its pages from time to
time, and sometimes people are better off knowing this kind of information
about companies in advance, if they possibly can.
