Black Ball Radio

"Black Ball is kicking off the development of the new Black Ball Studios in
Seattle, Washington by offering Internet radio workshops at the studio.
"These workshops are taught by qualified instructors, and are intended to
provide participants with all the training required to build a simple
Shoutcast MP3 driven Internet radio station.
"Basic Windows PC skills are prerequisite to attendance. Each
workshop will be limited to 6 participants. The tuition for each
workshop in November is $25. Here's a list of the topics to
be covered in each workshop:

- Internet Radio Primer

- Basic audio production gear requirements

- Basic PC and Internet connection requirements

- Basic software requirements

- Setup and configuration of Shoutcast server software

- Setup and configuration of Shoutcast encoder software

- Basic website publication of Internet radio streams

- Basic live audio production techniques for Internet radio

- Integration strategies for broadcast radio solutions

by collaborating in construction of a complete and functioning
live Internet radio station. Every participant will leave with

"The project includes an extensive series of interviews with protest
organizers, participants, and analysts; an archive of materials and
artifacts from the protests; a forthcoming historical account of the
protests and the months of organizing that preceded them; and this web site.

"We are also developing a collection of personal accounts written by
participants. Interviews have included discussions of protest goals,
strategies, personal anecdotes and other subjects.
"In the near future, a collection of recorded interviews and/or
transcriptions will be available for public use in the UW Library
Archive/Special Collections. Some transcriptions are now available online...
and we expect most to be available by the end of the year.

Jam for Justice

"Jam For Justice presents a benefit for Tent Village, a WTO Protest
Anniversary event. Let the City know how you feel. Come join in for
refreshments, song, and merriment while helping to promote community
awareness about homelessness and the need for low income and transitional
housing.
"Food Not Bombs will be donating soup, and entertainment will include folk
legend Jim Page, Celtic crooner Joe Martin (of Clay Pipe), Paula
Maya, Jim Hinde, Street Poet Laureates, Mark Taylor-Canfield, and many more
special guests.
"All proceeds go to Share / Wheel... Suggested donation $10. No one will be
turned away. Participants are also requested to bring surplus winter stuff,
such as coats, hats, gloves, sweaters, blankets, sleeping bags, etc."
