Food Not Bombs Seattle
-
"Food Not Bombs doesn't pretend to solve the problems of homelessness
or hunger in Seattle. What we do do is present a continuing example of
the truth that *individuals* can make political choices that change
our lives -- which sometimes means by flying in the face of
conventional wisdom and accepted authority. By our very existence, we
also challenge the growing social trend of leaving problems to the
tender mercies of 'experts.' We are arguing that: this is our world;
these are all our problems; and we are as qualified as anyone else to
tackle them."

A Matter of Perspective - 20 Years of Homelessness in Seattle
-
Six longtime activists look back on a generation of change in Seattle, from
the days of oldtime politicians and corrupt cops and no homeless people, to
the billions invested in redevelopment that drove many of the marginal poor
into homelessness, to the approaches of recent administrations in a "colder,
cleaner" city, to the kindness of Seattle residents and volunteers, as our
homeless population continues to grow and more people freeze each winter on
the streets.
