   Sites of the Week

December 21 - 28, 1998

SCN Site of the Week:

Wannabe Farmers - on SCN
"I just took a look at the site 'Wannabe Farmers' and see that it has photos, projects, activities, history ... and new today: links and calendar of January events."
- Brian

From the calendar:
"Saturday January 10 - Wannabe Farm Project(s) Tour. Come see possible sites for the 1999 growing season. Meet at the parking lot of the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford at 10am. We will carpool to West Seattle then to Carnation. The tour will begin at Longfellow CSA, then Mara Farm/South Park Community Garden, then Jubilee Farm in Carnation."

Seattle Sites of the Week:

Sicko
"Why would I recommend the site of a defunct punk band? Well to start out with, I work with 2 out of 3 of them. Plus the guy who owns their record label (eMpTy). And someone else with a side job at the record label. And the record producer. But why (I hear you ask) should anyone else care?

"Well, they were a pretty good band and they still have a last live album coming out and ex-Sicko Ean Hernandez still gigs around plenty and their site has lots of lyrics (mostly clever) and samples (of course, they're a band) and links to everything from Archie McPhee's to the Dead People Server to the Wallace and Gromit Homepage to the Noam Chomsky archive. Oh, yeah, and they once wrote a song called 'The Inland Empire Strikes Back'."
- Joe Mabel

Northwest Arts
"A new on-line organization for artists of all kinds."
- Barb Weismann

"Check out this 'hub' web site, offering a comprehensive listing of arts-related sites, plus calls-for-entry, classified listings, and many other self-serve message boards. Artists and arts organizations can add their own links, and everything gets posted immediately. NW ARTS has been online for almost a year, and is maintained by volunteers in partnership with the Seattle Public Library. NW ARTS is dedicated to making connections, sharing information, and helping to foster a dynamic art community in the Northwest."
- Jaq Chartier
