BENEFIT CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FOUNDATION
Looking for something a
little different in the way of holiday concerts this year?
Come to the Seattle Welsh
Choir’s Christmas concerts that kindle the warm fire of a traditional Welsh
Christmas.
The first performance will be an afternoon concert on Sunday, December
10, 2:30 p.m., at Greenlake United Methodist Church, 6415 1st
Avenue NE, Seattle.
The second concert is a special performance to benefit the Children’s
Hospital Foundation, and will be held Wednesday evening, December 13th
at 7:30 p.m. at Ballard High School Auditorium, 1418 NW 65th
Street.
Based on a “Noson Lawen” — Welsh for “merry evening”— the concert will
feature carols and other seasonal choral works in Welsh, interspersed with
readings from Dylan Thomas’s classic A Child’s Christmas in Wales in
English, as well as a community carol sing in both Welsh and English.
Musical selections include several brand-new pieces as well as a number
of old favorites sung by the full choir, small groups, and several soloists,
all under the talented direction of our new conductor, Richard Lind.
Tickets for both concerts will be available at
the door. General admission is $8; children’s tickets are $6.
