Gweithdy Crefftiau Cymreig (Welsh Crafts Workshop)

was organized in 1992 to give us two years to make Welsh-oriented crafts to sell at the National Gymanfa Ganu hosted by PSWA  in 1994.   We had regular working meetings in the tradition of "quilting bees" (but without the quilts).

Now members work on projects on their own.  They also form the nucleus to staff our sales booths.  Typically, we have four sales events per year: WorldFest, a yearly three-day ethnic festival at Northgate Mall (sponsored by the Ethnic Heritage Council), the PSWA St. David's Day concert in Spring, Côr Cymraeg's Gymanfa Ganu in the Fall, and the choir's Christmas Concert.

We would like to find more people who want to make things for us to sell.  There is a wide variety of techniques to choose from, including knitting, crocheting, stencilling, woodworking  toymaking.  Our Craftspeople make animals, ornaments, dolls, artwork, stationery -- everything we sell reflects some aspect of Welsh culture, tradition, animals, or symbols.

We are especially looking for someone who has the time to carve some love-spoons, weave small replicas of the traditional baskets used in farming, or knit (we have a good deal of donated wool).

On approval by the craft group of your project, you will be reimbursed for your material costs, and will have the fun of donating your time.
