One of WWFOR's main focus issues is implementing the Decade of Nonviolence.
The United Nations has declared 2001-2010 to be the International Decade for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence for the Children of the World.
Fellowship of Reconciliation members are working to implement a culture of nonviolence.

Seattle area effort to support the Nonviolent Peaceforce
The Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP) is on its way to becoming a reality. NP is a non-governmental, international effort to establish a large group of well trained and supported men and women who can intervene in areas of the world where tension is high and violent conflict a real possibility. They will use strictly nonviolent means to ease tensions and to protect those most at risk of violence. The idea of nonviolent intervention is not new, but its large scale international implementation is. This alternative to violence and military intervention needs our strong support if it is to succeed.
Meetings of a Seattle affinity group to support the Nonviolent Peaceforce are being held regularly.
