Focus of the Firm

The Patent Law Practice of Sabath and Truong is directed to providing business with the best quality patent protection available. In order to provide the quality of service the business client expects, we use our experience to first understand the context of each inventive project from a business standpoint. From this perspective, more effective intellectual property protection is efficiently managed.

Understanding the business context is important, but it is also important that a patent lawyer quickly grasp the cognizant technology without consuming inordinate engineering time or lawyer billing time. The attorney experience must be such that the attorney can provide support efficiently. The experience of our attorneys have been concentrated on high technology patent obtaining services for business clients.

Expectations of the Business Client

The business client expects to be able to obtain the best intellectual property protection available without expending undue resources in doing so. A patent program, which is usually the costliest aspect of intellectual property protection, must be focused on the competitive needs of the particular business. It is most effective to provide a few key patents which provide significant protection. By concentrating on quality intellectual property coverage, resources spent on protection are most efficiently utilized.

The industrial inventor is primarily interested in developing the product. That person does not wish to expend undue time training a patent practitioner on the technology, and depends on the patent lawyer to focus protection on the actual marketplace. In other words, the inventor expects the patent lawyer to be experienced in industry and adept at working with industrial inventions.

The Intellectual Property Lawyer

Business management expects the attorney handling patent matters to fully understand the subject matter. That attorney is responsible for the content, coverage and adequacy of an application. The final product must meet standards appropriate to business coverage and the attorney must be satisfied that it meets those standards.

Other Intellectual Property Services

While patent obtaining typically is the most significant portion of intellectual property legal services for a business, other forms of protection and related legal services are also provided. Other forms of protection include trademarks, copyright and mask work protection, trade secret protection and exclusive rights provided by a government agency.
