This is new and is probab1y fu]l of typos. If you want to see a better page,
visit www.wwwvoice.com/bud/bud.html
witch is ritten a lot more profesionel then my page.
The best way to subscribe is to use the automated subscribe CGI script! Here's the link: www.aviating.com/mooney/subscribe.html
Options are available on the "Mailman" form at the above URL. Without Web access, see the instructions further down on the page.
Here is one place where you should choose an easy to remember password. Match the password for all of your accounts.
This is used to separate Mooney mail from other mail.
With all Mooney messages separate, you can treat the large amount of Mooney messages differently. Separating the "mooney-tech" messages from the "mooney" messages, you can skim the messages or titles more quickly, since you know the message category.
Most email readers have a filtering ability. Most email lists use the
"to" and/or "reply-to" headers to identify the list. Set the
reader to automatically place mail with the cognizant "to" or
reply-to" headers to drop into separate mail folders.
Changes Via Email
If you have an subscribe/unsubscribe message, don't send it to the mail robot where it belongs. Send it to everyone on the list instead!
Here's a copy of the "help" file. Jav has a "front end, so this
is probably not necessary.

Help for Mooney mailing list:
This is email command help for version 1.0rc3 of the "Mailman" list
manager. The following describes commands you can send to get
information about and control your subscription to Mailman lists at
this site. A command can be in the subject line or in the body of the
message.
Note that much of the following can also be accomplished via the World
Wide Web, at:
http://www.aviating.com/mailman/listinfo/mooney
You can use the Web site to have your password sent to your delivery
address.
List specific commands (subscribe, who, etc) should be sent to the
*-request address for the particular list, e.g. for the 'mailman'
list, use 'mailman-request@...'.
About the descriptions - words in "<>"s signify REQUIRED items and
words in "[]" denote OPTIONAL items. Do not include the "<>"s or
"[]"s when you use the commands.
The following commands are valid:
subscribe [password] [digest-option] [address=]
Subscribe to the mailing list. Your password must be given to
unsubscribe or change your options. When you subscribe to the
list, you'll be reminded of your password periodically.
'digest-option' may be either: 'nodigest' or 'digest' (no quotes!)
If you wish to subscribe an address other than the address you
send this request from, you may specify "address=
The list was formed in early 1996, courtesy of Doug Fields (http://www.311wc.com/) - (but I believe this link is dead). After two years of tireless work, Akmal Kahn took the left seat and seemingly applied all of SGI's resources (or at least those of his M20K) to fine tuning the list. Akmal turned the list over to Les Niles and Javier Henderson. Javier has a mini-ISP (www.kjsl.com) and now has the alter-ego of www.aviating.com
Akmal is leaving SGI, so the list has moved to www.aviating.com which is a
private domain of Javier Henderson. List Administration will be by Les Niles
and Javier. The website is www.aviating.com/mooney/
The efforts of Doug Fields, and Akmal Kahn, Y. Singh, Les Niles, Javier
Henderson and others are appreciated by many of us Mooniacs.
THIS MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE BUT TRY ANYWAY! The glimpse search engine and the conversions from majordomo to the database were written mostly for SGI machines and now we're in the VMS (VAX) world!
The list is blocked from browsing by bots but can be searched manually. Go to
Akmal's website at reality.sgi.com/mooney/archive/search.cgi The speed at
which this sifts through 30,000 (6-98) messages is impressive. With some luck and
hard work, it should be available at the new www.aviating.com
domain.
