The addresses are used by Hal Barron to send those cute
postcards in case you want to sell your plane.
The phone numbers are provided to some boilerroom with predictive
dialers where people call to ask you for donations for the
Starving Pilots' fuel fund.
But I am circumspect about email addresses. The shippers
hadn't shown signs of spamming customers. (FedEx has been pretty
good about not spamming.) But it doesn't hurt to be cautious.
So I now send shipment and tracking notifications to myself, and
then forward them. That avoids sending email addresses to
commercial 3rd parties.
