FAMILY & FRIENDS

There's all sorts of things I could do with this page. I could write all sorts of wonderful things about my loved ones. Or I might post a nice, traditional genealogy page. Or maybe even a virtual photo album with my favorite personal snapshots. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

Tell you what. If you want to meet my family, you can visit my genealogy section, complete with pictures. It's not really a serious genealogy site--if you want that, go visit some of my distant cousins. (One is so good, she even posted pictures of one of my ancestral lands, Apelern, Germany.) (Okay, I haven't really sat down and figured out if Karen Rowe and I are really related, but I'm pretty sure we've got a common ancestor way back there.) My site is mostly for the enjoyment and edification of my kin. But it has pictures and e-mail links if anyone wants to contact me for some real family data.

As for the wonderful things, well, that's a similar situation to the one I mentioned over at the God page. On this page, however, I think I'll just shut up and just list the links of those family and friends who are online. That way you can meet them for yourself.

My elder daughter Catherine only has two web pages. Actually, she's the only other family member (to my knowledge) with a web presence. (Get with the program guys!) Anyway, two pages are all I would allow her. You see, she was watching over my shoulder as I started this whole website mess and suddenly felt a need for her own websi te. Since this is my borrowed server space and I would have to code all her pages, I limited her to one web outing. A few months later, she wrote a couple of poems that I liked, so parental pride forced me to increase her allocation. I offered to let her set up a few more pages at home, however. (not that she took me up on the offer. She has many other projects with which to occupy her computer time.) Anyway, Catherine's interest in this site is what keeps the content at the "PG" level. (And lest you think that I'm showing favoritism, my younger child, Becky, hasn't shown any interest in having her own web page. If and when that does happen, she'll get her chance at fame, too.)

My friend, Mr. Z, has two sites. I'll list them both because he and his wife introduced me to my wife and so I am eternally in their debt. The good reverend's main hang out is the Grace Cyber Cafe. You can also visit his message board and voice your opinions. I certainly do.

Another message board I frequent is Unearthed Ruminations, run by Larry Bullock. I've never actually met Larry or his family, but I've hung out at his board long enough to consider him a friend. (I hope he agrees!)

A guy who used to work with me but is now working with Greater Europe Mission, Gary Farhner, has a site, but he's only done the first page. (Guess he has a life.) His may look cooler than mine, but I have more verbage.

A former churchmate of mine, Ba Cam Ma, also has a much nicer website than mine. You'll need a web browser that can handle Chinese to fully appreciate it, but there are English portions as well. Take heed of the background music warning! I suggested that he include that after I had tried to peek at his old website on my work computer. It was very embarassing.
