Thank God for literacy! I just love to read. To be able to pick up a pile of pages and laugh, cry, scream or dream is one of life's great pleasures. (Unless I have a headache, then I prefer TV. But that's another tale.) When I first toyed with the website idea, the first thing I thought of for content was a book list. That proved unweildly for a single page, as you can see on the left (or on the page you used to get here, if your browser doesn't do frames).

The current reading list fits on a single page, obviously. You'll generally see two or three titles on that list. This is because I have three regular reading times that may use different books: a devotional/study time in the morning, and whatever reading times at breakfast and supper. I'll have a book that I work on at breakfast (at home) and another that I tackle at supper (at work). An exceptionally interesting book will take up both times, as I schlepp it from home to work and back.

Above that list are the links to my book reviews, where I can spout off on the things I've read. Since I want to keep things small and my lists have expanded beyond the limitations of SimpleText, I have broken the list into a number of pages. Each covers approximately six months work of reading. Maybe I should just start limiting myself. I have trouble keeping up with the reviews anyway..... Nah.

Next to the bottom of that list is the link to my all time favorites. These are books I haven't necessarily read recently, but want to recommend. It's not one I've worked on very often, so it's short, even though there are many good books out there which I think folks should read.

A general comment about my lists: While I'll read just about anything in a pinch, I do have my favorite subjects. On the serious side, I tend to read theology, history and sociology/anthropology. (Them human beings are just so darn interesting.) When I'm in a lighter mood, I opt for science fiction or the occasional mystery or fantasy. And when it's time for mental vegetation, I grab a stack of comic books.
