Community Garden Guidelines
- I use this garden at the sole discretion of the Sisters Community Garden.
I agree to abide by its policies and practices.
- I will pay a fee of $15 to help cover garden expenses. There are no
refunds. I understand that of this, $2 will be returned to me when I clean up
my plot at the end of the season.
- I will have something planted in the garden by July 1 and keep it planted
all summer long.
- If I must abandon my plot for any reason, I will notify the manager.
- I will keep weeds, pests and diseases down and maintain the areas
immediately surrounding my plot.
- If my plot becomes unkempt, I understand I will be given 1 week's notice
to clean it up. At that time, it will be re-assigned or tilled in.
- I will keep trash and litter cleaned from the plot, as well as from adjacent
pathways and fences.
- I will not expand my plot into paths or other plots. I will keep all my
plants within the limits of my garden plot.
- I will plant tall crops where they will not shade neighboring plots.
- I will pick only my own crops unless given permission by the plot user.
- I will not apply any pesticides in the garden without the approval of the
garden manager.
- I will not use fertilizers, insecticides or weed repellents that will
in any way affect other plots.
- I agree to volunteer 1 hour toward community gardening efforts.
(include a list of volunteer tasks which your garden needs).
- I will remove all dead plants, weeds and stakes from my plot by Nov 15.
- I will participate in the fall cleanup of the garden. I understand that the
$2 deposit will be refunded only to those who do participate.
- I will not bring pets into the garden.
- I will work to keep the garden a happy, secure, and enjoyable place where
all participants can garden and socialize peacefully in a neighborly manner.
- Everyone is expected to help with the two big garden contests: the City Garden
Contest and The Harvest Show.
- The compost pile should only be used for compost, horse manure and wood chips.
No trash please.
- Any rule to be added to these by-laws must be approved by a majority of the
participating gardeners.
- Any conflicts or fights among gardeners will be referred by the coordinator
to the Human Relations Commission.
- I understand that neither the garden group nor owners of the land are
responsible for my actions. I THEREFORE AGREE TO HOLD HARMLESS THE GARDEN
GROUP AND OWNERS OF THE LAND FOR ANY LIABILITY, DAMAGE, LOSS OR CLAIM THAT
OCCURS IN CONNECTION WITH USE OF THE GARDEN BY ME OR ANY OF MY GUESTS.
- I understand all these rules and regulations and promise to follow them.
