Note: Some browsers consider the gopher protocol – an artifact of the early Internet days – to be deprecated. Internet Explorer handles it poorly and Konqueror is fairly clueless about it, but Gecko based browsers (like Netscape and Firefox) still handle it quite well. The textual browser Lynx provides the best user experience.
