I am Alan Jacobson, the Musical Director and First Mandolinist for the Seattle Mandolin Orchestra and the Emerald City Mandolin Quartet. The mission of both ensembles is to promote the mandolin through performances, education, recordings and original arrangements.
SMO has been in existence since 1968 and is dedicated to revitalizing the mandolin ensemble, a tradition originally popularized early in the last century. We showcase the entire mandolin family of instruments, including mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos and mandobass, and our repertoire encompasses many styles, including classical, jazz and folk.
SMO's next performance is for the Greenwood Art Walk, at Woodland Park United Methodist Church, 302 N 78th St in Seattle, Saturday, May 8, 2004 at 3:00 PM.
ECMQ was formed in 1996. Similar to the standard violin family string quartet, we are a classical mandolin quartet composed of two mandolins, a mandola and a mandocello. Our repertoire includes string chamber and orchestral works, as well as transcriptions of works originally written for other instruments.
ECMQ's next performance is at The Antique Sandwich Company, 5102 N Pearl St in Tacoma, Sunday February 22, 2004 at 3:00 PM. Please join us for an afternoon of classical music, good food and friendly family atmosphere.
Please call ASC at 253-752-4069 for driving directions.
I will try to include upcoming events on this site, so please check back.
